Summer 2010 Newsletter

As Summer  begins to fade and the holiday  draws to a close there’s plenty to look forward to as well as much to remember for Ludlow New Voices………………

In the words of our Music Director:

'I will sing with the spirit'.....Remember your day in Llangollen and the many times you heard this piece - and then, you singing it at our last meeting in July.

What a great motto for choral singing - to 'sing with the spirit and understanding'! 

Remember your performance at Oswestry in the Festival -  Remember last Christmas - your performance with LCS in the Christmas Concert and remember singing those impossible tunes in the St. Nicolas piece. So much to look back on over the past year -  a lot of achievement; but most of all, so much to look forward to this coming year. We now need to build on the foundations which have been laid and so much depends on the experience of you older singers who are going into a new school or who are already in the senior school and progressing further up the ladder. You are the leaders who will encourage the younger ones and together we will develop and grow into a choir worthy of standing on that Llangollen stage.

Plans this term include learning some new, exciting songs (from memory) and performing a wonderful Christmas show called Scrooge - based on Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. It includes some brilliant songs, and with the help of a couple of fantastic soloists and a bit of dressing up,  I think you'll love it.

 I look forward to seeing you all again in September and moving into the next chapter of LNV.

Thank you to all who put so much thought into the replies to our questionnaire of last term. They gave us much food for thought and helped us to understand what matters most to our singers – and their families. We’ll try hard to keep the things you like most and to make a few changes that will help you to get the most out of your singing.

To share some of the things you like most about LNV:

meeting new people who don’t go to the same school            singing harmonies

learning new and fun songs                     seeing friends            the grapes         

 trips – especially on school days  - hearing others sing            the singing !

Some proud moments.                              They make a super sound.

The tree of light at Christmas – magical !

Concerts help confidence and give a purpose.

A great chance to sing interesting music with expert tuition – very ambitious programmes and trips to outside events -  and all for £1 a week !

What more needs to be said ? Just - hope to see and hear you on 14th September,  5.15  at Ludlow Conference Centre.
